Dose the oracle path should be same in primary and standby.(oracle 11.1.0, windows 2007)

Hi.

I was wondering if any one can help my query.

I have configured the DG in both primary and standby but while creating the control file on the standby server i facing an error, so, i have created another control file to trace and the edited the path but. the same problem arised.

on primary my oracle software installed in E:\ and on standby oracle software installed in D:\.

Does the path must be same on both the machine?

For DG - Oracle recommends always prefer with same Directory structures configured on Source and destination.

can you post your standby database parameter file....

bcoz in that u'll specify where the controlfile should be restored...

and it's recommended to have same structure to have on standby but not necessarily.

i personally did two configurations  that are of different structures.
